A megawatt rating is a capacity measure. It is not automatically the facility’s average demand, annual energy use, utility cost, or share of a grid upgrade.
Know what each number measures
Maximum demand describes the highest expected draw. Average demand changes with utilization. Annual energy is measured over time—typically in megawatt-hours or terawatt-hours. PUE compares total facility energy with energy delivered to computing equipment. Each number answers a different question.
Ask for a complete public explanation
A useful explanation shows the IT load, total facility load, PUE assumption, utilization, phase dates, annual energy estimate, interconnection status, required upgrades, backup operating limits, and who is financially responsible.
Before comparing two claims, confirm that they describe the same boundary, operating condition, unit, and timeframe.
